God has already told us what true beauty is… But this world gets loud and accomplishes the enemy’s goal of distracting us, making us believe that the world’s definition of beautiful -the bottom-line-driven media, magazines, T.V., etc – is the actual true beauty we should aspire to.
Beauty that God cherishes isn’t recognized by this world, it’s a rare inner boldness that worships without ceasing & seeks the King expectantly. It shows unashamed adoration of the Savior even in doubt or fear. It is adoringly gazing at the sunset while everyone else passes it by.
Our hope isn’t just IN Him, our hope IS Him.
“It is not fancy hair, gold jewelry, or fine clothes that should make you beautiful. No, your beauty should come from inside you –the beauty of a gentle and quiet spirit. That beauty will never disappear and it is worth very much to God.”
~ 1 Peter 3:3-4
This world will make you believe that our earthly bodies – our flesh – is where beauty lies. But the only thing that will not turn to ashes is our spirit, that is what God means. That we would let Him have His way with us and romance us & worship Him in all we do.
“Charm is deceptive, and beauty is fleeting; but a woman who fears the LORD is to be praised.”
Now let me also say that just because our spiritual health trumps our physical health – it’s not to say that we stop caring about how we look and treat our bodies – they are the temple God has given us to reside in & we should treat them with the utmost care. But our love of God should be greater than the love of ourselves & pleasing the opinion of man.
“Do you not know that your bodies are temples of the Holy Spirit, who is in you, whom you have received from God? You are not your own;20 you were bought at a price. Therefore honor God with your bodies.”~1 Corinthians 6:19-20
This is how the creator of beauty – the King of Kings and Lord of Lords sees you:
“You are altogether beautiful, my darling, And there is no blemish in you.”
~Song of Solomon 4:7
Ask God that He would allow you to live your life with an audience of one – Him! Redeemed, radiant, and ravishing. You are altogether beautiful.
“Whenever you feel unloved, unimportant, or insecure, remember to whom you belong.”
Remember that you are a beloved daughter of the King.
“You are beautiful for you are fearfully and wonderfully made.”
~ Pslam 139:14
